Our commitment to WCAG 2.1 AA

Our Commitment

Level: Adult is designed to be usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA — the standard referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice and courts for both web and mobile applications under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Accessibility is a continuous process. As we ship new features we audit them against the same standard and fix issues we find.

What We Do

Color contrast meeting WCAG 2.1 AA (4.5:1 for normal text) across the app.

Keyboard navigation for all interactive elements with a visible focus indicator.

Respect for the operating system "Reduce motion" setting — animations are minimized for users who have it enabled.

Labels on icon-only buttons so screen readers can announce them.

Alt text on images that convey meaning.

Captions on video content where provided by the creator.

Support for standard browser zoom up to 200% without breaking the layout.

Known Limitations

Some game modes (Chess, Brain Game, Gauntlet) rely on quick visual input and may be difficult with screen readers or single-switch input. We're working on non-time-based alternatives.

Embedded YouTube videos use the standard YouTube player. Captions depend on the original creator.

Drag-and-drop lesson exercises have keyboard alternatives but the experience is best with a pointer device.

Third-Party Content

Some content in the app comes from third parties (educational videos, emoji sets, character avatars). We work within those providers' accessibility capabilities and credit each in our Credits page.

Report a Barrier

If you encounter an accessibility barrier anywhere in Level: Adult, we want to hear about it. Please describe what you were trying to do, what happened, and the device and assistive technology you were using.

We aim to respond within 5 business days.
